The Simple Dublin Core Metadata Element Set (DCMES, ''purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/'') consists of 15 metadata elements: ''Title, Creator, Subject, Description, Publisher, Contributor, Date, Type, Format, Identifier, Source, Language, Relation, Coverage, Rights''. These terms was later refined and complemented with additional terms in the ''purl.org/dc/terms/'' namespace. Many of the Dublin Core terms are ''reused''/recommended (imported) to some of the biodiversity vocabularies that are described and discussed here. The Darwin Core terms can be seen as an extension to the Dublin Core terms.
